What The "Bell Let's Talk" Initiative Can Teach Us To Battle The Mental Health Stigma (Simply)

Image
Two days ago was Bell Let's Talk Day, a day focused on ending the stigma of mental health in Canada, which, in recent years, has spread internationally. The logo is...simple. The "Bell Let's Talk" Logo         Yeah, it's simple, indeed. Just a smiley face and a speech bubble, that's it. The clear context of this logo is one of the many reasons why simplicity is important in branding. In conclusion, choose simple logo design. Smileys! (:         Speaking of mental health, I have also narrowed down a simple solution to combat it: self-awareness . Self-awareness is important because it allows you to improve yourself in newfound ways. One of my philosophies is "Treat the infection at its source". What this means is that the best way to solve a problem targets whatever is causing it directly. Practices like meditation, discussion, and therapy can help find the root of the problem and treat it from there.         Although

You know how before YouTubers get to the point, they have to talk about a sponsor, offer, future plans, "don't forget to like and subscribe", cute graphics, upbeat music, "if you haven't seen it, you should check it out...", "sorry that I haven't posted in a long time", "don't forget to follow me on IG", adorable kittens... Et cetera. Well, I'm not gonna do that, because as my comedy inspiration Trevor Noah says, "ain't nobody got time for that". (cue air horn sounds: pew pew pew pew pewwww ) "Neil Pasricha: The Author of Awesome" "You Are Awesome" by Neil Pasricha         EEEEEEP! This is the conclusion. The swan song. The moment before the credits roll (there's no credits actually, except for the book itself) It's the grand finale, so let's jump right into the last three (shhh) secrets ...   Secret 7: Find Small Ponds         Neil remembers a very valua

Hello, it's me, no need to get into Adele here, but I am still feeling a little musical (and emotional) after the 62nd Grammys aired last night. Alicia Keys hosted for the second time, and of course, had to pay tribute to basketball great Kobe Bryant and his teenage daughter Gianna, who passed away from a helicopter accident earlier that day. It was truly a night full of tributes and moving moments. But what really moved me was Camila Cabello (whom I mentioned, in an earlier post of mine, I absolutely love ) performing her song "First Man" in front of her dad. I cry every time I hear that song, so the performance made me want to hug my parents, so  badly! It was just to let them know that I will always be there for them, notably my dad, because he is a very special  person in my life for many reasons. So to all the fathers and daughters out there, who haven't seen the performance, you should most definitely  revisit it, because what's more powerful, than

Generation Y and Z Bloggers: Yes, They're Different!

Hi again! As I'm typing this, the Grammy Awards are happening! However, because of time zone difference, it doesn't air in my area until three   hours  after it starts (since Vancouver is three hours before Eastern Time). Anyway, me and my parents just went to a restaurant in Coal Harbour, and had our occasional "Generation X vs. Y vs. Z" conversation. So I decided to Google "millennials vs gen z infographic". This is what I found in Images: Click to view this image in another tab         Then, I decided to, based on this infographic alone, compare millennial (or Generation Y) bloggers and centennial (or Generation Z) bloggers. Let's get to the basics first. Millennials were born in the eighties and most of the nineties, so at least all of them are working. Most of their parents were born during the baby boom, making them an abundant generation. Centennials (my generation) are different; they were born in the late nineties and most of the 2

Hello again! Before I begin, I would like to thank Patreon for sponsoring this post! (crickets chirping) Just kidding, my blog isn't professional enough to actually have sponsors, but still, it's a platform that many internet influencers use to gain sponsorship from the public to make more projects. It's like GoFundMe FOR MARKETING!         Anyway, I may not actually have Patreon (Heck, I've never used Patreon for anyone !), but I do have a blog. And with the creative liberty and power of this blog, I am proud to present another episode of... Neil Pasricha: Author of Awesome! In other words, the surprising departure of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle from the Royal Family. This regal phenomenon brings up so many questions, including the million-dollar question: What's next for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex! Well, I'm not a royal expert, but I can  see the future! Want proof? I predicted the end of The Umbrella Academy . Not enough? Okay. I figured out that Kate was going to name her son after her dad on This Is Us . Still not convincing? "The hard way is the right way" ~ Cover of "You Are Awesome" by Neil Pasricha         Last year, as school was inching closer to the Christmas break, one of my classmates decided to give everyone  in Composition class a gift (it's a small school, the classes are small, you get the idea.). Specifically, he gifted me a copy of Neil Pasricha's latest book " You Are Awesome ". Before having this book, I only knew about "The Book of Awesome" (which I may have skimmed through once in my life, I like skimming through books, it really gives you an idea), but I didn't know who it was by .          As I started reading this book, I took a look at his websites, including the one that rocketed him to blogging stardom: 1000awesomethings.com (it's actually almost at 2000 by this point, which is why we should always go above and beyond with our goals). In the book itself, he discusses some studies and life stories that all have to do with

What's The Deal With Straws?

It's 2020. Yay! A new decade! 2019 has already been a big year, especially for those who are passionate about the environment. Even 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg (who I mentioned in my last post) was named Time Magazine's 2019  Person of The Year  (take that, politicians).         Greta isn't just the voice of the younger generation, but older generations too. Through the climate strikes that she has started, millions of people have came together to stand with Greta, spreading her message on the future of our planet globally.         In my last post, I mentioned that one of the things we can do to stop this climate chaos is to balance and restore the carbon cycle. Another thing has something to do with an essential life source: our oceans. Water does more than just hydrate us and regulate our temperature (not to mention making our lives more fun). It also helps nourish aquatic life, some of the most precious life we have.         Picture this: you
